Avalon Beach 100: so much to celebrate
As we continue our Avalon Beach centenary celebrations through 2022, there’s a lot to look forward to:
- The Nature of Avalon Beach -art exhibition launched 18/3 and continues until 19/4/22- Avalon Art Gallery – Cinema Arcade
- Wendy Frew’s Avalon Heroes program that launched 19/3/22 on Radio Northern Beaches continues
- Roger Treagus’ Avalon Beach ‘Shopfront Histories’ program has launched with the first group of 17 businesses, displayed in their shop windows. All businesses, shopfronts and home-based businesses are welcome to join
- Anna Maria Monticelli and Tamara’s memorial quilt project is underway, sponsored by Avalon Organics.
- The Sail of the Century is on this Saturday 26/3/22 at Avalon Sailing Club – see website for details
- Jayne Denshire’s Framing Avalon Beach public art project with trail map launching 8/4/22, sponsored by Woolworths Metro Avalon Ltd
- Term 2 – 4 schools Memorial Tree Planting project continues
- Much Ado About Nothing – performed by Shakespeare-Live-on-the-Island to the music of Leonard Cohen 30/4/22 and 1/5/22
- Avalon Beach Historical Society mega Centenary photo Exhibition -Avalon Recreation Centre 11th-13th June Long weekend
- Our next Centenary Art Exhibition with an Indigenous Theme will launch 17/6/22 at Avalon Art gallery -Cinema Arcade
- Our BIG event on Saturday 18/6/22 9-5pm Dunbar Park is a showcase of our community groups – Solstice Celebration– sponsored by La Banette, Barrenjoey Insurance Brokers and NBC- and includes art activities, dance, music and performance
- Evening Concert, local bands, Avalon RSL, sponsored by NBC Event Grant on 18/6/22
- Nature Talk – John Dengate and Andrew Gregory -Powerful Owl Project, at Avalon RSL on 24/7/22
